Students learn from drawing, masking, scratch (from basics up to professional technique) and aspire to create the work which is full of originality. At practice, students set the work project widely from two-dimension to three-dimension by using many kinds of painting tools and expand their potential as an illustrator. NCAD trains students to be professionals of “Illustration” who have ability and individuality.

Illustration is used for advertisement and publishing. It has a wide variety of depictions such as Copic pens, which are painting tools of hand drawing and digital illustration. There are two types of illustrators. One is a commercial illustrator who works for the design company to provide the mascot and book cover illustration which comply with client's request, and the other one is a free illustrator who draws what they want without limit by taking advantage of their individuality. The pleasure that one's own individual illustration is recognized is the most enjoyable part of this field.
